8 months ago I ordered this book in SPITE of all the glowing reviews, most of which seemed too general to me, or seemed to have been written by people who know the author personally. (See my comments to the 1 star review, on Dec. 2011 and today.)I finally got a chance to read this book (I have a huge back-log of books, from self-improvement to quantum mechanics), and wish I'd gotten to it a bit sooner.
Although I can't vouch for the sources of the other positive reviews, I am happy to say this is a GREAT book (for me) for several reasons:
- It has terrific "ready-made" affirmations on a variety of topics, from Anger to Career to Money, Self-Esteem, etc. Now you may say: "Why can't I just come up with my own affirmations?" Well, maybe you can. But I figure if my thoughts were balanced and healthy to start off with, I may not need a book like this to begin with. : ) The author's affirmations are spot-on, expressing balance, and exuding positive, constructive energy (for example, an affirmation on Career might not simply include, "Others respect me," but the all-important addition that "I respect OTHERS." Exactly the kind of thing I tend to leave out when I'm feeling stressed out, and NEED to remember).
- One of first practices ALONE was so handy I put it into practice immediately; and although it hasn't helped me achieve the sainthood I would so dearly love, it's the kind of thing I think will work wonders in the long-term. The practice is simply this: "When someone says something cruel to you [in case, whenever I hear myself getting a bit too grumpy for my own good, which happens frequently], say: 'Cancel, cancel -- I am happy." This is often the only push I need to put up a healthy boundary or "mental fence," stop the snowballing irritation, and give me that extra breathing space to start on a more healthy train of thought.
(Of course this only works if you're happy: if you aren't, you may enjoy Rhonda Byrne's The Magic [I didn't like The Secret, btw], which is basically an exercise in gratitude lists: and if you think that sounds silly, you'll be amazed when you try them.)
Anyway, if I sound enthusiastic, it's because I am.
I think, truth be told, I tend to be suspicious of books that aren't best-sellers. (And yet one of my favorite all-time spiritual books, "Only Love" by Sri Daya Mata, is practically unknown.)
As a former skeptic and REAL, honest-to-god reviewer of many items on Amazon, you can take my word for it (or within reason, anyway): This book is worth your time to check out.

Affirmations Your Passport to Happiness 8th edition edition by Dr Anne Marie Evers SelfHelp eBooks Reviews
Really did enjoy this book and many of the different techniques she teaches on the art of affirmations and finding which one works for you and your need. I would recommend this for she does have some things that I had not seen elsewhere.
I got it for a friend because I have it and they wanted to borrow it so I bought them there own.
I was looking for a book that would help me understand the power of affirmations and help me implement them into my life. This book did both. I recommend this book for anybody who is looking for the same.
The book is easy to read and makes it easy to start integrating affirmations into your life. It's a great book, and I know you'll love it!
Just what I needed. Very self helpful and encouraging
This book Your passport To Happiness" is written by AnneMarie Evers and she is also a riveting speaker on affrmations and sure fire ways to change your life.I have heard her speak in many different cities and her message is always the same full of love and hope for all. I've had some very sad times in my life before I started doing affirmations. Once I purchased her book and read of the power of affirmations that are properly done, my life became better. I used her book as a manual to guide my life. I now have a wonderful husband and we have a new life and home. We ballroom dance and enjoy our lives like never before. I am happy and fulfilled. I always pass her book to my friends, many times purchasing her book as gifts for birthdays and Christmas.Do your family and yourself a favour and purchase this book "Affirmations Your Passport To Happiness"!!!! You will be forever grateful!!!Grace Darlene
This book is simply AMAZING! It is so well written and very well thought out. There are many different affirmations that relate to all areas of life. There is also a very good explanation in the beginning of how and why affirmations are so powerful and helpful in everyday life. I've already bought many as gifts!
I have read numerous books about affirmations, and they basically just say to repeat the affirmation over and over or write it. I tried this and never got any results and it seemed to be rather difficult and time consuming. This book gives you something different, you write one main long affirmation only once and then the short form affirmation every day. She also has a lot of information on forgiving others and hundreds of ideas for affirmations. If you are interested inn affirmations, I recommend getting this one first (if I had gotten this one first I wouldn't have wasted my money on the other ones).
